El más extraordinario atardecer, con una bajamar viva dibujando los reflejos de un cielo crepuscular y bello. Camino sobre una fina lámina de agua sin fin...
Son bellas imágenes que no procede enseñar aquí, pero que acompañan a ésta otra de una castigada zapatilla, devuelta con fuerza por la misma mar que en su día engulló su historia.
Una vieja historia desconocida que probablemente ya nadie contará jamás...

Walking on a thin endless water layer...
Memorable photos that I shall not bring here now, but that came together and next to this pic of an old worn-out sneaker, harshly brought shore by same force and sea that one day engulfed its history.
An old unknown history that -most probably- no one will ever tell...

August 2008. Iceland happy and powerful. A wave of accelerated prosperity is dejected over the island during the past decade, making it possible that this small country of 300,000 people, lost in the middle of the North Atlantic, reached the top positions among all the countries in the classification of degree of global well-being and overall happiness.
The Welfare Nordic State model sustained through the most aggressive financial policies of a greedy banking system, based on a local small coin at constant re-valuacion, and the massive complicity of politicians, as it could be soon verified.

Very open and liberal - Icelandic society is reflected in this shot of a demonstration celebrating Gay Pride Day in a main street of the capital.

In those years many Icelanders asked for loans to buy a better all-terrain vehicle, a second residence - perhaps for rent to tourists - and expensive holidays in the Canary Islands, and in other parts of the globe...

With a very high mean cultural level, and socially-minded, which makes it more incomprehensible to everyone to realize that most of them were completely unaware of that soon will follow; a few months later only.

Currently Iceland recovers slowly but doing better.
Hardworking, brave people, pioneering and courageous.
Sure that after the great crisis are even better people than before, wiser if possible, certainly.

Agosto de 2008. Islandia feliz y poderoSA. Una ola de prosperidad acelerada se abatía sobre la isla durante la última década, lo que hizo posible que este pequeño país de 300.000 habitantes, perdido en medio del Atlántico Norte, alcanzara las primeras posiciones entre todos los países en la clasificación de grado de bienestar global y la felicidad global.
El estado del bienestar-sistema nórdico- sostenido a través de las políticas financieras más agresivas, basadas en una moneda local pequeña en constante re-valuación, en un sector financiero muy ambicioso, y en la masiva complicidad de los políticos, como pudo pronto comprobarse.

La sociedad islandesa -muy abierta y liberal- se refleja en esta toma en el día del Orgullo Gay en una calle principal de la capital.

En aquellos años, muchos islandeses pidieron préstamos para comprar un mejor todo terreno, una segunda residencia - quizás para alquilar a turistas - y costosas vacaciones en Canarias, y en otros lugares del globo...

Con un alto nivel cultural, y social que hace más incomprensible para todo el mundo que, la mayoría de ellos, ignoraran totalmente lo que muy pronto acaecería; unos pocos meses más tarde, solamente.

Actualmente Islandia se recupera lentamente. Pueblo trabajador, esforzado, pionero y valeroso.
Seguro que tras su gran crisis son incluso mejor pueblo que antes, más sabios si cabe, con toda certeza.

TOMATOS

Barcelona. febrero 2008.
Más de 20 variedades de tomates es la oferta de un caro mercado tradicional del centro de la ciudad.
Vuelvo a contemplar la toma, y ante tanta oferta de formas y colores, y las muchas variaciones -sutiles a veces- de los tonos rojizos y verdes, así como por los distintos precios a pagar, hago una inevitable reflexión sobre la dispersión de la Izquierda política, y social, en general, y en España en particular.
¿Habría que hacer un buen zumo con todos esos tomates?
No lo pienso así; a mí esa idea no me gusta.
Seguiremos a la espera de acontecimientos.

Barcelona, February 2008. More than 20 varieties of tomatoes is the offer of an expensive traditional market in the center of the city. I return for revisiting this shot, and such a great offer of shapes and colors, and many variations - sometimes subtle - of greenish and reddish tones -as well as the different prices to pay- provokes today to me an inevitable reflection on the dispersion of the political and social Left, in general, and especially in Spain.
¿Should We have to do a good juice with all those tomatoes?
Personally, I don´t think so, neither like the idea.
We shall keep on the watch of coming events.
