SNEAKER EN FAMARA - HOMENAJE A CESAR MANRIQUE

SNEAKER EN FAMARA by Karlox_12

SNEAKER EN FAMARA, a photo by Karlox_12 on Flickr.

June 2008, Famara Beach, Canary Islands.

The most extraordinary sunset draws -by means of a vivid low tide- incredible reflections of a twilight sky upon endless wet white sand horizons...
Walking on a thin endless water layer...
Memorable photos that I shall not bring here now, but that came together and next to this pic of an old worn-out sneaker, harshly brought shore by same force and sea that one day engulfed its history.
An old unknown history that -most probably- no one will ever tell...

EL COLOSO EN LLAMAS

EL COLOSO EN LLAMAS by Karlox_12
EL COLOSO EN LLAMAS, a photo by Karlox_12 on Flickr.

Madrid, February 2005. Spain "Is doing great" (so the politicians said)
The Windsor building -Madrid- in flames.
The night progresses and a crowd of curious renounce the warmth of home for contemplating a fascinating spectacle of destruction. I will never forget the Crackle of the flames, and the snap and crackle of the building structures as they collapsed..
We are many people there; Many cameras, for recording of this small unprecedent history.
Spanish people always liked gunpowder, and other people´s misfortunes as well...
On the smoky ruins new business are glimpsed for some. At the end, among the protagonists of this shot, eight years later, it should be said that El Corte Inglés and Ferrovial are doing great, thanks...

---

Sign the petition against the Suppression of vocational training concerts against exclusion and social euthanasia!

It is the absolute injustice: the only way out for many young people is the professional qualification - training - and now this is vetoed to their natural plaintiffs, the working class and middle class, suffering a free-fall crisis.

Paying 300 euros a month for getting professional training and qualification for a bearily 900 euros job...
who can afford it?

This, I call it,  suffocation and programmed social euthanasia.

¡Scoundrels!

LA NIEVE LO CUBRE TODO - SNOWS COVERS EVERYTHING

SNOW WEST_1 by Karlox_12

SNOW WEST_1, a photo by Karlox_12 on Flickr.

On January 10, 2010 was the day on which a real snow fall visited Madrid again.During the evening a heavy and magic snow-fall made us return back in time to childhood memories.
The old part of the city acquired an unreal, dreamlike, and so beautiful aspect that was gradually being populated for up to 70yo ´children´ who joined the snowball fights, or walked around in respectful silence by the white galleries of their excited memories, or either shooting his cameras on a compulsive fashion, trying to encompass and comprehend the the uncomprehensible.

The snow, which is able to transform human excess and dirt as it never achieved the best performance of the contemporary artist bolder.

For just a moment, if only a moment, the snow covers EVERYTHING; which is why I like so much...

Iceland Gay Pride I_ 2008

Iceland Gay Pride I_ 2008 by Karlox_12
Iceland Gay Pride I_ 2008, a photo by Karlox_12 on Flickr.

August 2008. Iceland happy and powerful. A wave of accelerated prosperity is dejected over the island during the past decade, making it possible that this small country of 300,000 people, lost in the middle of the North Atlantic, reached the top positions among all the countries in the classification of degree of global well-being and overall happiness.
The Welfare Nordic State model sustained through the most aggressive financial policies of a greedy banking system, based on a local small coin at constant re-valuacion, and the massive complicity of politicians, as it could be soon verified.
Very open and liberal - Icelandic society is reflected in this shot of a demonstration celebrating Gay Pride Day in a main street of the capital.
In those years many Icelanders asked for loans to buy a better all-terrain vehicle, a second residence - perhaps for rent to tourists - and expensive holidays in the Canary Islands, and in other parts of the globe...
With a very high mean cultural level, and socially-minded, which makes it more incomprehensible to everyone to realize that most of them were completely unaware of that soon will follow; a few months later only.
Currently Iceland recovers slowly but doing better.
Hardworking, brave people, pioneering and courageous.
Sure that after the great crisis are even better people than before, wiser if possible, certainly.

Agosto de 2008. Islandia feliz y poderoSA.

TOMATOS

TOMATOS by Karlox_12

TOMATOS, a photo by Karlox_12 on Flickr.
Barcelona. febrero 2008.

Barcelona, February 2008. More than 20 varieties of tomatoes is the offer of an expensive traditional market in the center of the city. I return for revisiting this shot, and such a great offer of shapes and colors, and many variations - sometimes subtle - of greenish and reddish tones -as well as the different prices to pay- provokes today to me an inevitable reflection on the dispersion of the political and social Left, in general, and especially in Spain.
¿Should We have to do a good juice with all those tomatoes?
Personally, I don´t think so, neither like the idea.
We shall keep on the watch of coming events.

BELIEVE

"So Carlos could see that his father once was young too, lots of kisses and hug" wrote my father sometime back in the late 80´s on this copy of an old portrait photo taken during the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Photo most probable date between 1937-38.

An 18 years old Chemistry student found himself suddenly, within a couple of years, fighting for the Republican Government as part of the Republican Air Forces against Franco. His plane was shot down, its pilot died, and he was handed over to the German Condor Legion in the first instance, and - obviously - survived the war and harsh prisons under Franco, eluding the death penalty - by pure luck - and also thanks to the struggle and tenacity of her sister, parents and family. An exemplary generation. They believed. The last best ones already are leaving us or left us already. Honor to their Memory.
